Surfrider Foundation Cape Fear Chapter Board Member Ethan Crouch: Making Effective Change In Your Community HGP#017
“The ocean is never protected, it’s always being protected.” -Surfrider Foundation
Surfrider Foundation Cape Fear Chapter former Chair and current Board Member, Ethan Crouch, joins us to talk about making effective change in your community. We also discuss taking care of our oceans, climate change, and reducing our plastics footprint.
Being environmentally conscious has been a part of Ethan’s whole life. Ethan grew up gardening, spent time in the woods, and enjoyed sailing and fishing in the Chesapeake Bay. Ethan also enjoys surfing and fishing on the Cape Fear Coast and feels fortunate to be surrounded by so many beautiful waterways (a yacht basin, a river, and the ocean). This appreciation for nature is the driving force for him to be a good steward of our natural environment. Once he found out there was a grass roots organization working hard to help protect the things on this earth he loves so much he knew he had to get involved. Ethan joined Surfrider Foundation in 2004 during undergraduate studies and has been volunteering non-stop with them ever since.
In addition to environmental topics we also discuss how you can make a difference in your local community. Whether it’s donating volunteer hours or giving monetary support, volunteers make an important difference in this world. Volunteering can make you feel good, increase your employment prospects, meet like minded people, and build a sense of community. To find your perfect fit, check out organizations like https://www.volunteermatch.org or do a quick Google search for local organizations in need.
