Port City Reggae Promoters Paul Allen & Kevin Blake | HGP#52

Joining us are the passionate reggae concert promoters, Paul Allen (aka Romio) and Kevin Blake, dedicated to spreading the sounds of reggae throughout our community. Paul and Kevin share their passion for reggae music and what they’re doing to bring more music to the Wilmington community. Paul and Kevin started Port City Reggae together and they are the driving forces behind the reggae scene in our city. They both hold day jobs in addition to promoting local shows with big name bands in Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC. This duo is doing incredible work for the community and they clearly love what they do. They’re committed to making live music accessible by keeping costs low, supporting our local bands and musicians, and creating an atmosphere where the reggae spirit thrives.

In this episode, we’ll explore their journey from their initial encounters with reggae music to their unwavering commitment to spreading its positive vibes far and wide. They’re here to share their love for the genre and shed light on their efforts to bring more live music experiences to our shores.

Concert Promoter and Radio Host, Beau Gunn, joins the podcast to share his love for music and tell his story of how he got started as a concert promoter. Learn how Beau went from radio sales to a radio show host to developing the ILM music scene and booking his first acts. Beau has brought a plethora of well-known bands to Wilmington, NC, including some big name acts such as Tedeschi Trucks Band, Mavis Staples, and Michael Franti. This year alone (2019) Beau promoted 54 shows at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater(GLA), with 47 of those being SOLD OUT shows.

North Carolina native, Beau Gunn, is most recognized for his voice on 98.3 The Penguin. Beau also has a slew of other business adventures under his company name Local Voice, including PortCityDaily.com, The Save 30 Store, and Greenfield Lake Amphitheater.
